Isabella Vassilopoulou studied at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) obtaining the Diploma in Civil Engineering in 1995. In 2000-2011 she completed the Postgraduate Degree of Specialisation in Structural Design and Analysis at NTUA. Subsequently, she started her doctoral research under the supervision of Dr. Charis Gantes and in 2011 she defended her Ph.D. dissertation on “Nonlinear dynamic response and design of cable nets”. During the years 2007-2010 she participated as an Instructor in continuing education seminars, regarding Eurocode ΕΝ1993 «Design of steel structures», organised by IEKEM-TEE. She has significant teaching experience, as for several years she participated in the preparation of class notes and teaching of the compulsory courses "Steel structures Ι" and "Steel structures II", and of the postgraduate course "Design of cable and membrane structures", at the School of Civil Engineering of NTUA. She supervised graduate and post-graduate theses and published parts of her research work in international scientific journals and books, as well as in the proceedings of national and international conferences. She is reviewer in twelve scientific journals. She has an extensive professional background and experience on analysis and design of structures, with emphasis on infrastructure projects, mainly focused on bridges made of reinforced or prestressed concrete or steel, as well as cable structures subjected to static and dynamic loads.
