The Porsche Pavilion in Monocoque design

Περίληψη:The methods used in the ship building industry, allow the fabrication of free-form double-curved steel plates for building elegant. efficient and light-weight shells. The Monocoque used for the Porsche Pavilion in Volkswagen´s Autostadt in the city of Wolfsburg not only is an example for such a shell structure, but also for the successful collaboration of architects, structural engineers, ship builders and a daring client. The entire building process of this unusual shell from conceptual and structural design to fabrication and erection will be described.
