Brief CV:
Mr. Konstantinos Vlachakis enrolled after qualifying examinations in the School of Civil Engineering of NTUA in 2010. He graduated in 2016 and received the Diploma of Civil Engineering NTUA. His diploma thesis entitled “Simulation and analysis of a stone masonry building before and after the application of strengthening” under the supervision of Professor I. Vayas. Subsequently, he continued his studies in Civil Engineering through the postgraduate program “Analysis and Design of Earthquake Resistant Structures” at NTUA. His master thesis, entitled “Analysis and design of a telecommunication steel tower strengthened with FRP plates”, was supervised by Prof. I. Vayas. He is currently a PhD candidate since 2017 in the area of “Strengthening of steel members using FRP and application on lattice towers” supervised by Prof. I. Vayas.
Research:
In the framework of his thesis, he participates in a European RFSC research project, “ANGELHY”, which includes experimental and numerical investigation of the response of hybrid steel members strengthened with FRP plates, as well as the application of hybrid reinforced techniques in steel lattice towers.
