Brief CV:

Mrs. Avgerinou studied in the School of Civil Engineering of NTUA in the years 2004-2010. The subject of her Diploma Thesis was “Analytical investigation of the influence of the vertical loading participating in earhquake, for RC frames” under the supervision of Dr. Ch. Zeris, Ass. Prof. NTUA. She continued her studies in NTUA with the postgraduate program “MSc in Analysis and Design of Earthquake Resistant Structures”. Her postgraduate thesis “Seismic performance of steel pallet racks” was completed in 2012 under the supervision of professors I.Vayas (NTUA) and C.A.Castiglioni (Polimi) in the context of a european exchange programme. She is a PhD Candidate since July 2013 under the supervision of Prof. I. Vayas.

Research:

Participation in the research programme partly funded by the E.U and RFCS, titled “MATCH: Material Choice for Seismic Resistant Structures”. In the context of this programme analytical as well as experimental investigation will be carried out on seismic resistant structures such as moment resisting frames and FUSEIS systems. The general objective will be the proposal of a new toughness assessment method for the selection of steel material for plastic design.
