Brief CV:

Mr. Thanopoulos holds a diploma in Civil Engineering from NTUA (1999). He also holds a Master of Science in "Structural Steel Design" from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine of the University of London, which was awarded with a distinction along with the Dowling Prize (2000). In 2006 he finished his PhD thesis in NTUA, titled "Behaviour of seismic resistant steel frames with energy absorbing devices", which focused on the utilisation of experimental results in Finite Element and nonlinear steel frames analyses, as well as the development of a practical Design Guide for the innovative type of connections INERD. Between 2006 and 2014 he was working for a major consultant engineers firm, as a structural engineer, specialised in the design of steel substructures of buildings and steel or steel/concrete composite bridges. In 2014 he was appointed Lecturer at the Department of Structural Engineering of NTUA focusing on the "Design of steel structures with experimental, numerical and analytical methods". In parallel he continues his work as a Consultant Engineer for projects regarding Steel Structures and Bridges.
